Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet town located on the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. The people who aren't familiar with this term tend to think it's a separate island somewhere in the west of Montreal but in fact this part of West Island is home to all things from the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay there was short. Brugel grew to be a young woman within Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. She wanted to become a professional dancer, but due to an explosive growth spurt she outgrew the dance partners she had. She admitted in an article that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. As I grew older than my male friends, I quit. Brugel was one of many former dancers that turned into acting. The teacher she had at high school was what pushed her to take the next step. She was encouraged to audition for a part in a school production. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. For the past twenty years, the roles played by Brugel on TV and the big screen have been numerous. The role of Rita from the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in Season 1 and was only seen occasionally.
