Amanda Brugel

Brugel was one of many former dancers that turned into acting. The teacher she had at high school was what pushed her to take the next step. She was encouraged to audition for a part in a school production. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. For the past twenty years, the roles played by Brugel on TV and the big screen have been numerous. The role of Rita from the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in Season 1 and was only seen occasionally.
